Warranty

Warranty – Important Information (Australia)

This warranty information applies to purchases made from HVAC Trade Supply by Australian customers and operates alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Nothing in this policy limits or excludes any rights or remedies you have under the ACL.

Standard Warranty Periods

  • General Rule: 12-month return-to-base warranty on most HVAC tools and test instruments unless a longer/shorter period is stated by the manufacturer.
  • Batteries & Consumables: Typically 3–6 months or as specified by the manufacturer (consumables are generally excluded from warranty—see below).
  • Commercial/Heavy Duty Use: Some brands apply different terms for continuous commercial use. Where the manufacturer specifies a different period for commercial use, those terms apply.

Your Rights Under the Australian Consumer Law

  • You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
  • You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
  • These guarantees apply in addition to any manufacturer’s warranty and cannot be excluded.

What the Warranty Typically Covers (HVAC Tools)

  • Manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship under normal intended use.
  • Test instruments (e.g., multimeters, clamp meters, megohm meters): accuracy within stated specifications, display/function faults, selector switch failures not caused by misuse.
  • Vacuum pumps/recovery gear: motor/coil failures, defects in castings or seals, switch/control faults occurring under correct set-up with compliant oils and maintenance.
  • Manifolds, gauges & hoses: defects in bodies, valves, bourdon tubes and factory fittings when used within rated pressure and compatible refrigerants.

Common Exclusions (Not Covered)

  • Misuse, abuse, or improper operation (e.g., over-voltage on meters, connecting to live circuits on resistance/continuity ranges, reversed polarity where not permitted).
  • Contamination or neglect (e.g., running vacuum pumps with low/old/incorrect oil, moisture/acid contamination, dirt ingress, lack of routine oil changes).
  • Liquid, chemical, or impact damage, corrosion, salt exposure, melted leads or burnt PCB traces resulting from incorrect use.
  • Over-pressure/over-temperature on manifolds, hoses, and gauges; kinking damage; incompatible refrigerants or oils; use outside rated CAT/pressure categories.
  • Consumables & wear items: probe tips, leads, gaskets, seals, O-rings, filters, diaphragms, sight glasses, fuses, batteries, printer paper/ink, calibration drift.
  • Unauthorised repairs or modifications, missing serial numbers, or tamper seals broken.
  • Improper installation or service work performed by unlicensed personnel where licensing is required (e.g., refrigerant handling in Australia).

Calibration & Maintenance

  • Calibration is not included under warranty unless expressly stated by the manufacturer for a defined period after purchase.
  • Meters, analysers and gauges may require periodic calibration; this is considered routine maintenance.

How to Make a Warranty Claim

  1. Stop using the product to prevent further damage.
  2. Collect proof of purchase (invoice/receipt) and the product serial number.
  3. Contact us for a Return Authorisation Number (RAN):
    Phone: 0412 333 115
    Email: hvactradesupply.com.au@gmail.com
  4. Pack safely with all standard accessories. Clearly write the RAN on the outer shipping carton. Return-to-base assessment is required for most items.
  5. Assessment & outcome: We or the manufacturer will test the item. If a manufacturing defect is confirmed within the warranty period, we will repair, replace, or refund in accordance with the ACL and the manufacturer’s policy. If no fault is found or the issue is excluded, we will quote repair costs and return freight.

Dead-on-Arrival (DOA) & Transit Damage

  • DOA period: Please notify us within 14 days of delivery if your item is not working out of the box.
  • Transit damage: If packaging is visibly damaged, refuse delivery and advise the courier to return to sender; then contact us immediately. If already accepted, notify us as soon as possible so we can arrange a RAN and assessment.

Spare Parts & Turnaround

  • Repair turnaround depends on parts availability and manufacturer service queues. Where parts are delayed, we’ll keep you updated.
  • In some cases, the manufacturer may supply a refurbished equivalent unit as a replacement in line with its policy.

Important Use Notes for HVAC Equipment

  • Vacuum pumps: Always use the specified vacuum pump oil; change oil after evacuating wet/contaminated systems; never run without oil; keep intake filters clean.
  • Recovery machines: Use only approved refrigerants, correct hoses, and clean filters; observe maximum pressure and duty-cycle limits.
  • Manifolds & hoses: Confirm refrigerant compatibility and pressure rating; avoid over-tightening; replace O-rings and seals as routine maintenance.
  • Electrical meters: Verify CAT rating for the task; inspect leads/fuses before use; never exceed input limits; follow the user manual at all times.
