Do I need a licensed tech for refrigerant-related work?

Yes — in Australia you need a Refrigerant Handling Licence for work that could cause refrigerant leakage (including work on RAC components that carry that risk).

How do I choose between an inline pump and a tank pump?

Inline pumps suit tight wall-mount/split installs where you need discreet lift; tank pumps suit higher flow or where you’ve got a bit more space and want a reservoir. Always check required head height, noise constraints, and access for servicing.

What size cassette drain adaptor do I need?

Match the cassette drain outlet to the adaptor size, then confirm what you’re joining into on site (often 22 mm / 3/4″ plumbing). If you’re unsure, measure both ends before ordering.

Should I use a non-return valve?

If the drain line layout can allow backflow (or you’re using pumps/long runs), a non-return valve can be part of a cleaner, more reliable set-up — choose the right size for your line.

What about R22 systems and retrofit products?

R22 is an ozone-depleting substance with restrictions in Australia; new R22 equipment can’t be manufactured or imported (with limited exceptions), while existing equipment may continue operating and being serviced. Any work involving refrigerant must be done by appropriately licensed technicians.
